Weekend Reads

Nylon Magazine, Ms Magazine.

I was at Chapters dowtown the other day and I was looking for a few new reads for work and I found Ms magazine (A widely know feminst magazine). I was pretty excited! It's such a good issue, I recommend it to anyone who is interested in the issue of abortion. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up Ms every month. I also picked up Nylon with Chloe Moretz on the cover, I love her style and her look overall and her spread definitely didn't disappoint.

Hope you guys had a nice weekend!

Tie Die

Tie Die

In the spirit of Lazy I made this set. I love how comfortable vans' sneakers are so they're a great staple when I actually want to give my feet a rest. I started wearing sneakers again last year and all I can say is don't know why it took me so long!

You really want to stay inside and sleep the light away.

Blazer (Urban Outfitters), Top (Zara), Pants (Jacob), Bucket Bag (Ebay), Creepers (Ebay)

Long overdue outfit post! life has been getting me down lately so I'm trying to keep up. As you can see I'm wearing my lazy pants, whenever I wear baggy pants you better believe I'm having the laziest day. I've been looking for a new camera. Ideally I'm looking to get a "Bridge" camera. I'm nowhere ready to go DSLR yet so I thought I would at least get a better camera in the meantime though. Saving up pennies and crossing my fingers I'll be able to get it soon since I'm actually already saving up to move!

Are you guys saving up for anything that seems impossible to reach? (I definitely know that feel...)

Living just to keep going, going just to keep sane

Bucket bag (ebay) Creeper wedges (ebay) Iphone case (DIY)

A bit of what I wore yesterday. I featured the case because I'm actually looking to make a few more cases for my Iphone 4S. It's really easy and I love doing small projects where I can zone out and just relax. When the whole shredding/ripped shirts was going on I shredded a few shirts, it literally took me hours (essentially it was pulling apart the thread and separating thread by thread) butI really enjoyed it though. (an example below) Sometimes manually numbing the mind is just what I need.

You're going to miss me by my hair, you're gonna miss me everywhere.

Swivel chair (Ikea) Side table (Ikea) Magazine rack (Urban Outfitters) Dining table and stool (Ikea) Chalkboard (Urban Outfitters) Skull poster (Urban Outfitters) Glass computer desk (Walmart) Mirror pieces (Urban Outfitters) Bed frame (Ikea)

Hello all! I have had a pretty weird week but the reason I made this post is I have decided to move out and go live in Montreal (I'm downplaying how excited and terrified I am) I'm currently looking for apartments and trying to pack my schedule with extra hours at work and I'm also looking for an additional job so I can save up even more. I would be the one paying for the apartment and supporting myself. Yup, I'm planning on living the broke dream! Everything isn't set in stone yet but I'm already dorking out on how I want to decorate my apartment for cheap (well I mean this isn't really cheap. Believe me I'll be doing more research, the cheapo in me knows there's cheaper)
I want clear, lucite, and white and black for most of the furniture, graphic pattern rugs and crazy coloured accents and vanitas paintings. It's really typical but I stay true to my taste (and budget).

I. cannot. wait. I will be posting more ideas and things I find, tell me what you think or if you have any ideas!

And I know she loves me, she loves everybody.

Jacket (Forever 21), Crop top (Ebay), Pants (Jacob), Bag (American Apparel, Boots (Urban Outfitters)

What I wore a few days ago. The weather is looking up and I`m so excited to whip out all my inappropriate crop tops (haha yeah I have an unhealthy love for everything cropped). I wore these pants because the material is light and ideal for warmer weather, and the pockets drive me crazy (in a good way) As much as I love layering I can`t wait to not have to wear huge cardigans and a bunch of layers under my jackets constantly.

Ebay Finds #2

My finds on Ebay this week. I actually wear glasses at all times because I have such terrible vision and I really do prefer wearing glasses. Glasses do add a certain something to my style that I really appreciate, the only downside is not being able to buy all the cute (cheap) sunglasses I want because I can't put prescriptions in them (and even when I can, it's still pretty pricey) I am investing in putting prescriptions in a few old frames that were gifted to me, so I'll blog about that when I get them done.
In the meantime I'll just squint a bit more in the sunlight and avert my eyes!

Coup de coeur, everyone's doing it.

I remember seeing this trend emerge and thinking, what is going on here? this going to fade faster than kanye's black man mullet.
Honestly, I think trends affect me a lot, as much as I want to act as if I'm my own product
and I am influenced by nothing. Seeing something a lot can make me either hate it or just mellow out: see  Litas, I still don't understand. Letterman Jackets, I am actually starting to get. Notice Rihanna is featured many times, she has been rocking them a lot, and dare I say I feel like she definitely had a part in making me "mellow".

Do you guys have a trend you originally side eyed and now might actually consider.....?

She's got house plants to keep her company.

Jacket: H&M, Top: Mom's old clothes, Jeans: Urban  Behaviour, Necklace; Ebay, Bag: American Apparel Warehouse Sale, Shoes: Trivium.

These shoes are one of favourite pair, they were such a find. My belief is that it doesn't matter which store it is, you can usually find at least one thing you'll like or that you can customize or whatever. I found these at the goth shop at the mall, and they usually never have my size but they fit for once and they were really comfortable. I've worn them so many times since last summer the soles are worn out and I really want to see if I can fix them! I love that they can change a drab outfit, and I can wear them anywhere.

We all have a pair of shoes we cannot let go of, what are yours? and what kind of condition are they in (holes, soles broken down, hanging on by a thread etc, tell me so I don't feel so bad for keeping mine!)

Rough Winds

Coat (Urban Outfitters) Cardigan (SheInside)  Riding Pants (American Apparel) Boots (Call It Spring) Bag (Ebay) Scarf (Ebay)
Really simple outfit post from Friday for my last exam. I wore these riding pants, because to me they feel like leggings but they're called pants and I get away with that when I wear a cardigan.
It was actually hailing, the weather in Canada is great because when people say Spring is here, all you do is laugh, that doesn't actually mean anything here. I've been pretty boring lately, and I miss being able to actually take time to pick out clothes because i'm not super late for class or on my way to an exam! So happy it's over. This means less work, more trips to Montreal, looking for a store I want to apply in and more time to shop for cheap deals. I bet that sounds like the least exciting thing ever but I'm elated. I've had a pretty tough year and I feel like I can finally take a little breather.

I'm going to ask one of these cheesy open ended questions no one feels compelled to answer because they feel the person who asked does't actually care about the answer (but I do!)
What are your goals/plans for the summer? I feel like i'm too old to make a list and stick to it, but that honestly helps me cope with so many things in life.

No games, just a slave to you totally.

Jeux D'enfants (Love me if You Dare), Moonrise Kingdom, Letters from Juliette Drouin to Victor Hugo, Laurence Anyways.

Just some movies I was thinking about, I'm in a mood! Laurence Anyways is one of the most aesthetically pleasing movies I've seen in a while. Moonrise Kingdom was also pretty enjoyable, it was light and actually relatively easy to sit through.
I briefly studied Victor Hugo and his correspondence with Juliette in high school, they were my favourites so I couldn't help including them.
